On the morning of April 15th, the China Education International Exchange Association held an online opening ceremony for “New Youth Global Competency Project” and “New Youth Class”. Hu Wenping, a member of the Party Committee Standing Committee and Executive Vice President of our school, attended and delivered a speech as a representative of the project institution. The event was also attended by Yu Yougen, Deputy Secretary General of the China Association for International Exchange in Education, Ma Yansheng, former Vice President of Beijing Foreign Studies University and former Minister of Education of the Chinese Embassy in France, Yao Xiansheng, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of Southwest Jiaotong University, and more than 600 teachers and students from over 100 project universities.
Yu Yougen stated that the New Youth Global Competency Project aims to cultivate students’ patriotism, enhance international understanding, and improve cross-cultural communication skills. He hopes this project can assist universities in cultivating international talents. Ma Yansheng analyzed the current background and national needs for talent development, proposing that global competent talents should possess patriotism, an international perspective, and a global mindset, as well as professional proficiency, proficiency in foreign languages, comprehensive skills, ability to compete, good communication skills, and integration with China and foreign countries. I hope the project can help young students realize their dreams and enable them to serve the country and go global
Hu Wenping stated that Tianjin University has always taken it as its responsibility to cultivate outstanding talents with patriotism, global vision, innovative spirit, and practical ability. From multiple perspectives such as innovating talent training models, improving the global quality of teachers, and strengthening policy and resource support, Tianjin University has effectively promoted high-level international talent training. He expressed gratitude to the association for providing project resources to various universities, believing that this project can serve as a beneficial supplement to the construction of interdisciplinary global governance for universities, in terms of curriculum system, teacher training, practical expansion, international cooperation, etc., effectively improving the quality of high-level international talent cultivation. At the same time, our school will fully utilize project resources, rely on key disciplines, and strive to promote the deep integration of global competence into the talent training system. Finally, he sent a message to the students, hoping that by participating in this project, they can comprehensively enhance their abilities and laid a solid foundation for confidently and confidently participating in global governance.
It is reported that in order to expand the global perspective of our students and enhance their global competence, our school applied for and was approved as one of the first universities to participate in the New Youth Global Competency Project in 2021. The project will design theoretical courses and practical modules to help students better understand contemporary China, enhance international understanding, and enhance cross-cultural communication skills.
