Sucessful Completion of 4th China-Thailand Higher Education Forum and International Youth Students Forum – China ASEAN Education Exchange Week 2022 at Guiyang University

August is a refreshing and beautiful time of year in colorful Guizhou, where we welcome guests and friends! On August 22, 2022, the Fourth China Thailand Higher Education Cooperation Forum – International Youth Students Forum, co-hosted by Jiangsu University, Guizhou University, Guiyang College, and the China Thailand Higher Education Cooperation Alliance, was successfully held at Guiyang College in the form of online and offline integration, with the theme of “Youth Global Competency Training, Regional Common Development, Youth’s Mission and Application in Global Sustainable Development”. This forum is one of the main events of the 2022 China ASEAN Education Exchange Week. The main guests attending the offline forum are: E Xuewen, Secretary General of the China Thailand Higher Education Cooperation Alliance, Liu Gang, Vice President of Guiyang University, Zou Shijian, former Vice President of Beijing Foreign Studies University, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Department of Jiangsu University, Zhou Bin, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Department of Guizhou University, Tan Yonghong, Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Department of Guiyang University, Li Ying, Dean of the School of Foreign Languages, Wang Gang, Vice Dean of the School of Culture and Media, and Wang Yao, Promotion Director of the “New Youth Global Competence Training Project” Southwest Region of the China Education International Exchange Association. More than 300 Chinese and foreign experts, teachers, and students from Guiyang University, Jiangsu University, East China Normal University, Anhui University, Sichuan Foreign Studies University, Xi’an Foreign Studies University, Guizhou University of Finance and Economics, and Galaxin University in Thailand gathered online and offline for the forum.

We promise that the China Thailand Higher Education Cooperation Alliance will always be a platform and bridge connecting the higher education and young people of China and Thailand, as well as a maintainer and promoter of regional and even world peace and development. We hope that this event can tell the story of young people to the world and spread their voices well!

Opening speech by the Secretary General of Hubei University and Culture of the China Thailand Higher Education Cooperation Alliance

Vice President Liu Gang of Guiyang University delivered a welcome speech, extending a sincere welcome to the guests and offering congratulations on the convening of the forum. He shared his vision and initiatives for cultivating globally competent youth, promoting the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind, and addressing the historical mission of higher education. He hopes that young students can become builders of world peace, contributors to global development, and maintainers of international order on the basis of improving global competence. Pointing out the enormous challenges faced by China in terms of talent internationalization, international perspective, global awareness, and cross-cultural communication, this article provides a comprehensive explanation of the urgency of cultivating globally competent talents, as well as the mission and role of youth in global sustainable development.

Nine young students from various countries gave speeches on topics such as “The Mission and Responsibility of Youth in Global Sustainable Development,” “The Mission and Responsibility of Youth in Climate Governance in Developing Countries,” “Towards Common Prosperity: China ASEAN Cooperation and the Mission and Responsibility of the Youth Generation,” “Ideal, Enthusiastic, Global Vision,” and “Youth Should Cultivate Global Competence, Undertake Missions in Sustainable Development,” focusing on the cultivation of global youth competence, regional common development, and the mission and application of youth in global sustainable development. Both on-site and online, young students at home and abroad resonated strongly, unanimously believing that youth are the main force of future society, hope, and dawn. In the new era, youth should seize opportunities and seize the opportunity to take advantage of the situation. Take advantage of the situation, be brave to take action, take responsibility, and have a global perspective, Adapt to the trend of the times. Contemporary youth should have a clear mission and responsibility, work hard, unite, and work together to build a community with a shared future for mankind.
