On August 24th, during the 2022 China ASEAN Education Exchange Week, the 4th China Thailand Higher Education Cooperation Forum took place in Gui’an New Area, Guizhou Province. The forum, themed “Creating a New Stage of Cooperation and Innovating a Community for Development” brought together guests from China and Thailand, as well as representatives from nearly a hundred universities. Participants engaged in discussions about scientific research cooperation and talent cultivation through online and offline means, shared beneficial experiences, and promoted practical cooperation.
The year 2022 marks the 10th anniversary of the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between China and Thailand. Despite global changes, the relationship between China and Thailand has always maintained a healthy and stable development. It has achieved fruitful results in many fields, especially in higher education, vocational education and other fields. The rapid development of cooperation has cultivated a large number of talents to promote the joint construction of the “the Belt and Road”.
Liu Limin, President of the China Education International Exchange Association, believes that China and Thailand are geographically close, have cultural exchanges, trust each other, and support each other. The education exchange and cooperation between the two countries have a solid foundation and a broad future. On the basis of deepening language education cooperation and credit recognition, both universities are continuously enriching and innovating exchange models, further expanding the scale of visits and exchanges between young students and scholars, inheriting the friendly tradition of “China Thailand is a family”, increasing understanding, enhancing friendship, and solidifying the foundation in exchanges, working together to build a better future for a community with a shared future between China and Thailand.
The China Thailand Higher Education Cooperation Alliance, established in 2020, is committed to deepening higher education exchanges and cooperation between China and Thailand. Yan Xiaohong, President of Jiangsu University and Co Chairman of the Alliance, introduced that in the past three years, the member team of the Alliance has further strengthened, with 281 member schools. Cooperation between Chinese and Thai universities has been further strengthened, and more than 20 cooperation agreements have been signed, involving scientific research cooperation, teacher-student exchanges, and cultural exchanges. The forms of cooperation have also been further enriched, and have had a positive impact on the relationship between China and Thailand.
Pangchai Monkonwani, President of Siam University in Thailand and Joint Chairman of the China Thailand Alliance, said that the alliance is continuously deepening in education cooperation, making every effort to build a knowledge cooperation and innovation system, driving cooperation and development in major industries between the two countries through high-quality university cooperation, promoting the sharing of high-quality educational resources and the interconnection of educational standards, deepening talent cooperation, and achieving common development.
Chen Haoyi, Minister of Science and Technology Counselor at the Embassy of Thailand in China, stated that talent cooperation is the foundation of economic cooperation. The universities of Thailand and China have extensive cooperation space in professional fields such as railway transportation, aviation technicians, big data, mechanical electronics, new energy vehicles, technology and tourism, logistics management, etc. They carry out high-quality cooperative education, promote the sharing of high-quality educational resources and the interconnection of educational standards, deepen talent cooperation, and achieve common development.
Feng Junying, Education Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Thailand, said that China and Thailand have established diplomatic relations for 47 years and have achieved fruitful results in cooperation in various fields. In terms of talent cultivation, scientific research cooperation, cultural exchange, and other aspects, we should also deeply explore the depth and breadth of cooperation, and carry out diverse cooperation.
