On August 24th, the 4th China Thailand Higher Education Cooperation Forum, jointly organized by Jiangsu University, Guizhou University, China Thailand Higher Education Cooperation Alliance, and Guiyang University, was held at the permanent venue of China ASEAN Education Exchange Week in Guiyang City, Guizhou Province. The forum was attended by experts and scholars from the higher education sector of China and Thailand, as well as over 150 representatives from nearly 100 universities in China and Thailand. Participation was offered through a blend of online and in-person formats.
This forum is one of the opening activities of the 2022 China ASEAN Education Exchange Week. The forum, with the theme of “Creating a New Stage of Cooperation and Building a Community of Development,” will discuss cutting-edge topics such as innovative models of cooperation in higher education between China and Thailand, joint training approaches for talents between China and Thailand, and the dual curriculum of industry and academia in higher education between China and Thailand. The forum arranged parallel discussions such as the China Thailand University President Forum, the China Thailand Agricultural and Food Sustainable Development Professional Forum, and the China Thailand Higher Education Cooperation – Innovation and Practice.
The forum also held an online “International Youth Student Forum” at Guiyang University on August 22, focusing on young students from China and Thailand. Discussions and exchanges were held on topics such as “The Mission and Role of Youth in Global Sustainable Development”, “Youth Global Competency Training”, and “Promoting Regional Common Development”.
During the forum, a signing ceremony for cooperation between Chinese and Thai universities was held, and a meeting of the executive board of the China Thailand Higher Education Cooperation Alliance was held to summarize the work of the past year and plan for future development. The China Thailand Higher Education Alliance has also launched the “China Thailand Cloud Education Exhibition and Online Project Negotiation Conference” to promote the establishment of an all-weather online exchange platform for cooperation in higher education between China and Thailand.
It is understood that this forum marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Thailand. The forum aims to “overcome the impact of the epidemic, strengthen bilateral exchanges, innovate cooperation models, and promote common development”, deepen the exchange and cooperation of higher education between China and Thailand, explore new ideas and methods, promote innovative models of higher education cooperation between China and Thailand, gather consensus, and promote common development, serving regional economic development and construction.
We should actively participate in the China ASEAN Education Exchange Week from multiple perspectives and forms, and promote the development of higher education through more academic and cultural exchanges among young talents.” Yan Xiaohong, the President of Jiangsu University, stated that for a long time, Jiangsu University has actively strengthened cooperation and exchanges with ASEAN universities, including Thailand, to promote education exchanges between China and Thailand, China ASEAN, and promote people to people communication. As the chairman unit of the alliance, Jiangsu University will continue to promote the cultivation and exchange of young talents, deepen scientific research and technological cooperation, promote cultural exchange and people to people communication, and other aspects to deepen cooperation and make it more practical among member universities of the China Thailand Higher Education Alliance.
