In the afternoon of July 15th, the launch ceremony for the summer online training between Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and China University in Egypt was successfully held. The event was attended by notable figures including Lin Haibin, Deputy Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Shandong Provincial Committee, Gao Shuzhong, President of Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Wang Shenggang, Education Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Egypt, Dr. Mohammad Badri, Egyptian Ambassador to China, and Professor Ashraf Elshey, President of China University in Egypt, attended and delivered speeches. Xu Yanhe, Director of the China Affairs Department of the Beijing Representative Office of China University in Egypt, representatives from the Beijing Representative Office of China University in Egypt, and Vice Dean Jin Xiaojun of the EWIE Research Institute were invited to attend the meeting.
Lin Haibin, Deputy Director of the Shandong Provincial Foreign Affairs Office, emphasized Egypt’s significance as a key partner of Shandong in Africa. He highlighted that the summer traditional Chinese medicine course training program will deepen Egyptian youth’s understanding of Chinese culture through traditional Chinese medicine. This initiative aims to foster mutual understanding between the Chinese and Egyptian people while enhancing the depth of Sino Egyptian cooperation. Dr. Mohammed Badri, Egyptian ambassador to China, spoke highly of China Egypt cooperation in traditional medicine and COVID-19 vaccine, and said that this training will further help Egyptian youth understand Chinese traditional medicine and Chinese medicine culture, enhance the popularity of Chinese medicine in Egypt, and promote cooperation and exchanges between the two countries in science, technology, medicine, education and other fields.
Wang Shenggang, Education Counselor at the Chinese Embassy in Egypt, stated emphasized the significance of medical and health cooperation within China- Africa relations, and China Africa medical and health cooperation, especially in the field of traditional medicine, highlighting important opportunities for development. This online training will help Egyptian trainees further enrich their knowledge and broaden their horizons, laying a solid foundation for higher level cooperation between the two universities. The President of Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Gao Shuzhong, and the President of Egypt China University, Ashraf Elshey, introduced their respective institutions and emphasized the significance of this online lecture series for fostering traditional medicine exchanges and establish friendly cooperation between the two universities. Following the launch ceremony, Professor Wang Shiyuan, Dean of the School of Nursing at Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, delivered the inaugural lecture on “Integrated Medicine of Harmony between Human and Nature – Traditional Chinese Medicine”. About 120 students from China University in Egypt attended the training online. This online training will run until August 5th, featuring a total of 4 sessions taught. Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine will provide training on traditional Chinese medicine and physical therapy related courses for students at the University of China in Egypt.
